After installing the flue, I noticed that the space above the grill wasn't effectively drawing smoke out and through the flue. The flue, positioned on top of the formwork slab, didn't fit perfectly through the reserved hole.
To solve this, I designed a special hood to optimise smoke flow. The solution was a tapered hood with a cylindrical top that slides into the inner diameter of the main double-skin steel flue, ensuring a more efficient smoke extraction system.

Designing a custom hood
I measured and sketched the hood and passed it on for CAD design.
The metal cut for the hood
We decided to make the hood out of sheet aluminium. We cut and folded it and passed it on to be welded.
The fabricated hood ready to install
Installation of the hood
The installation went perfectly. Once the cement slab is in, I will seal the edges of the hood with a high temperature silicone.
